The Outakers had a very busy weekend which started on Friday night at BBC 1xtra as Devlin took over the airwaves for 60 minutes of musical mayhem. It was all part of the Homegrown season on 1Xtra. Devlin alongside the Hollowman Giggs and Pass Out’s Tinie Tempah took over Dj Semtex’s 1Xtra hip hop show, dropping their favourite tunes amongst their own material. Devlin continued to do things in his own unique manner as he presented an eclectic collection of his favourite music which ranged from Bruce Springsteen and Shy FX to Bob Marley and Big Pun. You can check the show out via the BBC Iplayer now, well worth a listen.
Then, in the early hours of Saturday morning the Outakers were back to what they do best on Kiss FM’s The Chosen Ones Grime special with Dj Logan Sama. The O.T boys were accompanied by two old friends in the shape of 360 Records Griminal and Ghetts plus young sprayer Shrimpos. Dogzilla stole the show with his unmistakable injection of comedy. The five Mc’s alongside and Logan Sama delivered a epic 30 minutes of high energy Grime music, just the way we like it! The Grime special on kiss also included sets from Dirty Stank’s Newham Generals, Bloodline and South London’s OG’z collective. Listen back to the show via the Kiss Kube.
The weekend culminated in a live performance from Devlin at the BBC’s world famous Maida Vale studios in central London. He was joined by some of the hottest acts in the UK to celebrate Ras Kwame’s last Homegrown show which will now be presented by Dj Target.
Alex Mills, Emeli Sande and the ever-present Giggs performed some of their recent hits with a live band. Devlin was really impressed with the bands versions of Community outcast and London City and he enjoyed performing them live from such a famous location.
